Originally from Pretoria, Barry developed a deep fascination for wildlife during childhood visits to the Kruger National Park — a spark that grew into a lifelong commitment to the natural world.

His guiding career took him to some of South Africa’s leading lodges, where he earned the highest FGASA qualifications, including Level 3 and Professional Trails Guide status. Barry has spent countless hours tracking big game on foot, interpreting complex ecosystems for guests, and showcasing Africa’s remarkable wildlife with skill, patience, and heartfelt passion.

Today, he designs personalised safaris across the continent, using his field-tested expertise to help travellers understand the land, its rhythms, and the magic behind a truly memorable safari experience. His insight into wildlife behaviour, regional diversity, and ethical safari practices makes him an invaluable voice within the Simakade Expert Panel.
